Gentle LOADS was founded by Nohemi Medina, a resilient single mother whose personal journey inspired a mission to serve others. After recovering from a serious car accident, Nohemi gained a deeper understanding of the day-to-day challenges many individuals face—particularly when living with a disability or financial hardship. One often overlooked but essential need stood out: access to clean laundry.
Recognizing how the inability to do laundry can affect a person’s dignity, hygiene, and well-being, Nohemi launched Gentle LOADS to fill this gap in the community.
The organization provides free or low-cost laundry services to individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness, or disability. Rooted in compassion and driven by lived experience, Gentle LOADS exists to alleviate the burden of laundry, offering not just clean clothes, but also dignity, care, and hope to those in need. Today, Gentle LOADS operates as a volunteer-driven nonprofit, partnering with local organizations, volunteers, and donors to create a more hygienic and humane community—one load at a time.
